SOMNIA: THE BLUE NOTE

THE
BLUE NOTE
- - - -

A fortress of creativity in the midst of an overgrown wasteland. Once a small jazz club that seated around two-hundred guests every show, the Blue Note is now a mostly empty, broken down space, except for a stage framed by heavy curtains and a bar stocked with dust.

It is not an unhappy place, however. The grand piano has been given care, no longer lonely alongside the lost souls that have settled in. In fact, all of the instruments shine like new, one of very few things in this city that have been wiped completely clean. Many nights, the sound of them thrums through the nearby streets.

Someone is keeping art alive.
MAIN BUILDING
Motes of light drift through what would be an otherwise pitch-dark space, courtesy of the resident Lightweaver. Amongst them, and easily missed, are also living fireflies drawn in by the presence of a Swarmling, as well as the occasional shockingly large moth fluttering about harmlessly.

Apart from the bar, the stage, and the green room, which is home to a hoard of salvaged instruments in varying states of repair, what's left of the space has been transformed into a starving artist's studio.

All of the seating that used to serve customers has been cleared out. Only the comfiest booths remain, pushed together into the center in the way a child might collect pillows and blankets. Damaged parts of the wall have been patched over with small paintings. The few tables still around are covered in even more paint, either splattered or in bottles.
LIVING QUARTERS
CURRENT HABITANTS: Ivan, Till, Noah, Lortel

Three stories of apartments sit above the Blue Note, modest, relatively untouched by fungal or floral incursion except for the moss creeping over the outer bricks.

The stairwell is home to a large number of insect and arachnid hosts. They are not hostile toward those marked with Swarmling pheromones.
SURROUNDING AREA
CONVENIENCE STORE: At the corner of the block is a 7/11 that has been picked mostly clean, though the freezer units are still in good shape should power ever return.

ACE HARDWARE: A large hardware store almost directly neighboring the Blue Note.

PARKING GARAGE: Across the street, a multi-level parking structure that once helped unclutter Greenwich Village. An adequate training grounds for practicing graffiti.

MINETTA PLAYGROUND: Lush grass breaks through the asphalt surrounding the jungle gym. Ivan planted the odd strain of cherries he received in return for Worship here. The bee hosts are oddly aggressive toward would-be thieves.

WASHINGTON SQUARE PARK: Large, iconic, central fountain.

THE CAGE: An outdoor basketball court enclosed by tall fencing.
